ABOUT ROMMEL

Rommel Gonzales Jr. is a Filipino-American singer-songwriter and composer based in Los Angeles, California, who is a passionate individual dedicated to inspiring, supporting, and connecting with audiences through the artistic expression of musical worldbuilding and storytelling. His work focuses on crafting experiences that foster emotional, spiritual, and community unity by celebrating human individuality; his projects aim to empower people through raw authentic art and the appreciation for beauty in life. 

 

Rommel is a current undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music Composition and Arranging at Azusa Pacific University, where he is an active member of the university’s Men’s Chorale (2024-2025, 2025-2026), Gospel Choir (2025-2026), and most notably, the Azusa Pacific University Chamber Singers (2025-2026) — a respected name in the global choral scene that covers a variety of styles and periods, ranging from early Renaissance to contemporary acapella. As part of the Chamber Singers, Rommel had the opportunity to perform in Studio Hill Productions’ 2nd Annual Classical Fantasia in the fall of 2025, where he performed alongside world-class artists and musicians. In 2026, twenty-five students, including Rommel, of the Azusa Pacific Chamber Singers and Gospel Choir were featured alongside coaches Adam LevineKelly Clarkson, and John Legend in a commercial promoting the 29th season of NBC’s The Voice, airing both on the 2026 Winter Olympics and Super Bowl LX. 

 

As a world-class program with award winning alumni and faculty members, the Azusa Pacific University School of Music has classically and commercially trained Rommel through rigorous coursework and ensemble experience, providing him with a deeper understanding of  the various stylistic approaches of music throughout history, culture, and genre.
